The Virtues of the Tahmid (Alhamdulillah)

The Meaning of Alhamdulillah

Alhamdulillah is an Arabic phrase which is called Hamdalah or Tahmid. Its literal meaning is Praise (be) to Allah. It means expressing gratitude for what Allah has blessed us with.

It carries two parts, one thing is to praise Allah, second is to be thankful to Him. Only Allah is praiseworthy for every possible admiration on account of His actual existence, due to His mercy, magnificence, bounteousness and all of His other honourable attributes and Names. It is Allah who admires Himself on the tongues of His servants. Any servant who praises Him is only able when Allah allows his tongue to Praise Him, Even if none of his salves Praise Him, He would still be worthy of all praise.
